1 jar Lucini® Spicy Tuscan Tomato Sauce2 lbs hot Italian sausage, cut into ½ inch links2 cloves garlic, minced2 large green bell peppers, seeded and sliced into ½ wide slices½ large white onion1 lb baby portabella mushrooms, sliced1 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped¼ cup fresh basil, cut into thin slivers¼ tsp crushed red pepper1 cup red wineKosher salt and fresh cracked black pepperCrusty breadLucini® Extra Virgin Olive Oil


Heat sausage in a large sauté pan. Cook until golden-brown, remove from pan and set aside. Add the garlic, onion, bell pepper and mushrooms to pan and sauté in the drippings produced from the sausage until onion is golden and peppers are soft. Return the sausage to the pan, add crushed red pepper and stir.In a separate pot, carefully add sauce, oregano, parsley, basil and contents of the sauté pan. Season with salt and pepper, add wine and stir. Cover the pot and simmer for at least one hour on low heat.Cut the bread in three large pieces, then slice the loaves of crusty bread and place on a baking sheet, cut side up. Drizzle with olive oil and broil for a few minutes – until just toasted.Top each piece of bread with sausage and sauce. Serve immediately. Enjoy as a sandwich or top over pasta
