The Mediterranean Mark is a symbol found on authorized food products verifying the product contains no added trans fats in any amount, no more than 8% of total calories from saturated fat, no more than 480 mg of sodium (side items and snacks) or 600 mg (meal-type foods), and no more than 4g of added sugar to support a healthy, balanced Mediterranean-style diet.

The Mediterranean Diet is comprised of an abundance of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables; moderate amounts of cheese and yogurt; fish and seafood; healthy fats including olive oil, avocadoes, and nuts; wine in moderation; and minimal red meat. Not simply food-focused, the diet also recognizes the importance of daily physical activity.
The Mediterranean Food Alliance offers research supporting the growing notion that the Mediterranean Diet may defend against chronic diseases, lengthen your life, fight certain cancers, lower risk for heart disease, protect against diabetes, and more.
